Playing every game in his second season is a credit to Weddle and the fitness team as Hawks supporters speculate as to what will be his best position. Primarily playing as a tall defender, Weddle’s capacity to run off his opponent to provide overlap options off half-back has some thinking the midfield may serve him better, which was further enhanced when he played as the around ground ruck option on a few occasions. Being able to kick 10 goals including the team’s goal of the year (v Carlton round 22) also contributed to this discussion. His contract was extended to 2026.
